Beekeepers of the Neuse, a local bee club, offers students a class discount for early registrations before Dec. 15 The Basic Beekeeping Class is open to anyone interested in becoming a new beekeeper or those wanting to refresh their beekeeping knowledge and skills. The course is sponsored by the Beekeepers of the Neuse in partnership with the Wayne County Cooperative Extension Office. Classes begin on Saturday, January 13, 2018. Students desiring to become a certified beekeeper by the NC State Beekeepers Association will have the option to test upon conclusion of the class. Students are not required to raise bees during or after this course. WHO: Beekeepers of the Neuse WHERE: Wayne County Cooperative Extension Office 208 West Chestnut Street, Goldsboro, NC 27533 WHEN: Classes held on Jan. 13, 20, 27 and Feb. 3, 10 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm WHAT: Early registration is encouraged to ensure textbook and class materials are ready for you on the first day of class. There are 2 ways to register and pay for the beekeeping class: 1-Mail registration form and check before Dec. 15, 2017 to receive a $10 discount. Mail to: Beekeepers of the Neuse, PO Box 977, Goldsboro, NC 27533-0977 2-On-site registration begins at 8:00 am, Jan. 13, at the Wayne County Cooperative Extension Office. COST: $60 per person or $85 per family. Cost includes: Textbook, classroom training materials/notebook, refreshments and on-going training with a certified beekeeper/mentor. One textbook per individual or family. Please make checks or money orders payable to Beekeepers of the Neuse. Payments received before Dec. 15, 2017 pay $50 for individual registrations and $75 per family. Credit cards will be accepted on registration day.
