On July 4th, 1954, Marilyn Sheppard, the wife of Dr. Sam Sheppard was murdered in her bed.
Her husband was the primary suspect and the trial became a media sensation, with the nation watching to see the twists and turns of the case.
The Sheppard story subsequently held a place in popular culture. Several books and the TV show “The Fugitive” were based on the unsolved Sheppard murder.
