It's been a great time in Boston, but we've reached the Ask Me One More final round. Puzzle guru Art Chung leads the final five contestants in a game comprised of words, phrases and names that begin with the letters B-A-N. For example, the triangular patterned cloth you might wear around your head or neck would be a "bandana," and if it doesn't bear the Red Sox logo, then you're in the wrong town.
OPHIRA EISENBERG, HOST:
We've reached that point in the show where we're going to crown this week's grand champion. Let's bring back the winners from all the previous games. From Hahd-Cawr Pun: Jack Martin.
EISENBERG: From Plus One: Dan Katz. From Name Brand Names: Jon Petitt. And from I left my heart in Boston: Karin Travers.
EISENBERG: I'm going to ask our puzzle guru Art Chung to take us out.
ART CHUNG: Ophira, this game is called Banned in Boston. From the late 1800s up until the 1950s, many novels and works of art were banned from the city for being immoral or indecent. But don't worry, that's not what this game is about.
CHUNG: This game is about words, proper names and phrases that begin with the letters B-A-N. So, for example, if I said, it's a triangular patterned cloth worn around your head, the answer would be bandana. That's right.
We're going to play this spelling bee style, so one wrong answer and you're out. You'll have only a few seconds to give me that answer and the last person standing is our grand winner. Remember, all the answers begin with the letters B-A-N. Here we go. Jack, it's a bluegrass instrument played by comedian Steve Martin.
JACK MARTIN: Banjo.
CHUNG: You got it. Dan, it's what you'd hold onto while walking down the staircase.
DAN KATZ: A banister.
CHUNG: That's right. Jon, it's the last name of the host of "America's Next Top Model," Tyra.
JON PETITT: Banks.
CHUNG: Banks, correct. Karin, the British call it fringe, but we call the hair in front of your forehead this.
KARIN TRAVERS: Bangs.
CHUNG: You've got bangs, that's right. Jack, it's an HBO mini series produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks about World War II.
MARTIN: Band of brothers.
CHUNG: Band of brothers, that's right. Dan, Stephen King says that the fiction town of Dairy is his portrayal of this city in Maine.
CHUNG: Bangor, Maine. You got it. Jon, he was the super villain in the Batman film "The Dark Knight Rises." Three seconds. I'm sorry, Jon, you're out of time. Karin, do you know the answer? The super villain in the Batman film "The Dark Knight Rises."
TRAVERS: I got nothing.
CHUNG: You got nothing. Sorry. Let's go to Jack. Jack, do you know the answer to that question?
MARTIN: Can I use banjo again?
CHUNG: You could try but that's...
MARTIN: Yeah, that's not going to get it done.
CHUNG: Jack is closing his eyes in deep contemplation.
MARTIN: Oh, Banks.
CHUNG: No, I'm sorry. Dan, if you know the answer, you are our grand winner.
KATZ: I would say it in his voice, but you'd have no idea what I was saying. It's Bane.
CHUNG: Bane is correct.
EISENBERG: It is no surprise, the man wearing the superhero t-shirt got that question. Dan, you are our ASK ME ANOTHER big winner. Congratulations.
KATZ: Thank you very much.
JONATHAN COULTON: To celebrate our first show on the road, your prize is your very own ASK ME ANOTHER travel tote. We have filled a bag with everything a nerd needs. We've got a toothbrush, playing cards, a book of mad libs, an ASK ME ANOTHER cloth cleaner, sinus medication, a Jonathan Coulton CD and so much more. Congratulations, Dan.
KATZ: Thank you so much.
