Crews with Carteret-Craven Electric Co-op will begin clearing damages from Hurricane Florence this morning. Close to 150 line workers from Alabama, Tennessee and Virginia are joining 30 CCEC line workers, field technicians and other personnel. Additional support crews will assist if necessary. Damage assessment on Thursday showed extensive damage to the distribution system that provides power to about 40,000 electric services in Carteret County, Havelock and parts of Jones and Onslow counties. It may take time to fix broken transmission and distribution poles and untangle lines in large trees. Crews may also be hampered by flooding.
CCEC will provide updates of their restoration procees via their online outage map: http://outage.carteretcraven.coop/
