The Down East Journal (10/03/14)

Oct 2, 2014

For two hundred years, rice was grown on large plantations in eastern North Carolina.  This week on the Down East Journal, we get the backstory on this lucrative crop and we hear from a farmer who’s continuing the tradition in Chatham County.  Plus, a new museum was dedicated on the northern Outer Banks last week.  We learn more about the Historic Jarvisburg Colored School on the next Down East Journal.  Friday at noon on all of the PRE stations.  And Saturday at noon on News and Ideas.
