This week on the Down East Journal, a new non-profit in Carteret County seeks to help disabled veterans heal physically and emotionally by teaching them how to saltwater fly fish. The first fly fishing trip at the coast is planned for November 16^th. And, conversation and music with one of the namesakes of the Asheville-based Americana trio Underhill Rose about their latest CD “Something Real.” The Down East Journal airs Friday at noon on all of the PRE stations. And Saturday at noon on News and Ideas.

Jared Brumbaugh is the Assistant General Manager for Public Radio East. An Eastern North Carolina native, Jared began his professional public radio career at Public Radio East while he was a student at Craven Community College earning his degree in Electronics Engineering Technology. During his 15+ years at Public Radio East, he has served as an award-winning journalist, producer, and on-air host. When not at the station, Jared enjoys hiking, traveling, and honing his culinary skills.
