ECU Makes Narcan Available To Students

Wikimedia Commons

East Carolina University in Greenville joins more than a dozen universities across the country making overdose medications readily available to students.

Students, faculty, and staff can now pick up naloxone at the Student Health Services pharmacy for free.  Also known as Narcan, the lifesaving nasal spray can reverse the effects of prescription opioid and heroin overdose and requires no special training to administer. Narcan has no adverse side effects on those who do not need it.

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill announced last week that they’re making Narcan available to anyone free of charge, without a prescription, and anonymously.
