Even though Florence has made its way out of Eastern North Carolina, impacts from the storm will linger this week.

Significant river flooding is likely across the area through early next week in the Neuse River south to the Cape Fear River basin.  The National Weather Service in Newport said rivers are rising with major or record flooding ongoing or expected in some areas. Some river gauges have been inundated.

Life threatening flooding and storm surge impacts are expected in the Neuse and Tar Rivers through Saturday.
