Fatal Shooting At Wayne Community College In Goldsboro

UPDATE -  Tuesday 4/14/15  7:50 am   The suspect in the shooting death of Wayne Community College employee Ron Lane has been apprehended.  20-year-old Kenneth Morgan Stancil III was arrested in Florida early Tuesday when he was spotted sleeping on the beach.  Officials are working to extradite Stancil to North Carolina to face charges.

UPDATE - Monday 4/13/15  12:00pm   All buildings at Wayne Community College have been cleared.  During an 11:45 news conference, law enforcement said they have a person of interest, former student Kenneth Stancil.  The search for the suspect continues, but police don't believe the shooter is still on campus.  The victim Ron Lane was an employee at Wayne Community College.

The incident, which occurred around 8 am in the Wayne Learning Center building, left one person dead.  The suspect is still at large. Wayne County 911 Assistant Operations Manager Daniel Wiggins says several police agencies have set up a perimeter around Wayne Community College.  The suspect is described as a white male with a bald head, approximately 5'11" with a tattoo over his left eye, has a goatee and was last seen wearing a blue jacket with light colored pants.
