Hurricane Irene Causes Fish Kill in Many Local Rivers

New Bern, NC – Torrential rain from Hurricane Irene washed leaves and other organic matter into rivers in eastern North Carolina. As the material decays, dissolved oxygen levels drop and the result is a wide spread fish kill impacting many coastal rivers.
