Welcome in the New Year with new programming weekday mornings on Public Radio East News & Ideas. On Point hosted by award-winning journalist Tom Ashbrook features vibrant conversation covering everything from breaking news to ancient poetry, and features writers, politicians, journalists, artists, scientists and ordinary citizens from around the world.
In host Tom Ashbrook’s own words “Here at On Point, we’re looking to create a different kind of conversation about the country and the world we live in — about who we are, and where we’re going. Maybe it’s the kind of national conversation you’ve always wanted. Fast, fun, serious, surprising. Open to everyone. And above all, unflinchingly honest. With voices from all over the planet. Fresh voices. Passionate voices.
On Point was born in the immediate aftermath of the attacks of 9/11, when the country was looking for answers and impatient with old certitudes. We still carry that urgency today: to test, challenge and probe. And while we do it, to celebrate the people, arts and ideas that make life a joy.”
On Point succeeds “the Diane Rehm Show” which leaves the Public Radio East airwaves as Diane steps down from her daily radio program after nearly 40 years. Her voice will still be heard in a new podcast she is working on.
Join us for On Point weekday mornings 10-12 noon on PRE Public Radio East News & Ideas beginning Monday, January 2.
