Law Enforcement seeks public help on series of robberies

Law enforcement agencies are asking the public for tips as they try to halt a string of home invasion robberies of Asian restaurant owners. George Olsen has more.

The state Department of Public Safety reports since December of last year there have been 35 armed home invasions in the eastern half of the state with a similar mode of operation. In each case the owner of an Asian restaurant and family arrive home in the late evening where they are attacked from behind by 3-to-5 armed black males who assault them until they cooperate. A press release from the Department says cash was the primary item stolen. The most recent occurrence was December 23rd in Wake Forest.  This MO has also occurred five times in Wayne County, four times in Craven County, three in Lenoir and twice each in Onslow and Pitt Counties. Several law enforcement agencies are coming together to offer an $8000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction. I’m George Olsen.
