Paul F. Tompkins Loves NPR

New York might be the city that never sleeps, but here in Los Angeles, we're a little more laid back, though some of us need a little help getting there. Comedian Paul F. Tompkins came by NPR West for an All Things Considered review an app called Sleep Machine, that helps users fall asleep with relaxing sounds.

Overall, Tompkins likes the app. It's got a lot of useful features, and a good variety of sounds. Some relaxing, some not so much. For instance, a bathroom fan. He says, "I get that the white noise of that is appealing. But I don't know who's falling asleep in their bathroom." And crickets. "It's like you're in a cricket nest or a cricket hive... they sound really aggressive," says Tompkins. And foghorn (he didn't go into it, but that one seems obvious to me).

All in all, he recommends this app for the "war on sleeplessness." And I recommend you check out this picture of Tompkins, showing his love for NPR, which hopefully does NOT make him fall asleep.
