It was close, folks, but we're happy to announce the winners of NPR's National Pet Radio Contest. Please join us in offering a big congratulations and round of applause (or should we say appaws) to our grand-prize winner...

Edging out with 28.74% of the vote, Stevie the Wonder Dog, who listens to KCPW in Salt Lake City, is the winner of this contest. As top dog, Stevie and his owner win a NPR Black Logo T-Shirt, NPR Music Klean Kanteen and NPR Bottle Sling.

Close behind are our three runners-up who each receive a NPR Share More Chico Bag — for toting around well-deserved treats, we're sure.

- First runner-up and one of the toughest sugar gliders around is Suge Knight, representing WAMU in Washington, D.C., with 26.43% of the vote.

- Second runner-up is mobile-equipped pup Kashiwa doing Southern California Member Station KPCC proud with 13.57% of the vote.

- Third runner-up goes to be-speckled pooch Jiggs, a KUT fan in Austin, TX, who finished with 11.47% of the vote.

Congratulations to all of our winners. We truly did have an incredibly hard time narrowing down the entries to a few finalists. So, we've put many of our qualifying entries into the slide show below (including a few based on popular radio shows that aren't from NPR).

Thank you to everyone that entered and voted. Hope you enjoy all these cute animal photos as much as we do.
