Search Continues for Downed Drone Near Cherry Point

The unmanned drone plummeted in the Neuse river yesterday afternoon during a routine training exercise. Cherry Point officials do not yet know what caused the drone to crash. First Lieutenant Maida Kalic says the Cherry Point Fire Department has been conducting searches alongside the Township Nine Fire Department.

Highway Improvements Planned For ENC

We detail the State Transportation Improvement Program which seeks to ease congestion at a local military base and complete the expansion of Highway 17 to a four lane between New Bern and Jacksonville.

Here in eastern North Carolina, we are all looking forward to long-promised road improvements.  Now, the North Carolina Department of Transportation is asking for public feedback on their latest State Transportation Improvement Program released December 4th. Over 1,000 projects are planned affecting every county. Sarah Finch has more.

Sequestration's Impact in ENC

At some point before Friday at midnight, the President is expected to order across-the-board budget cuts to save $1.2 trillion dollars over the next ten years.  Jared Brumbaugh spoke with Congressman G.K. Butterfield about how sequestration could impact eastern North Carolina.

“It appears it’s too late, that it’s definitely going to happen.”

If the sequestration goes forward, most of the effects could be felt in our area immediately.  Butterfield says military readiness and middle class families would be hit the hardest.
