sponge cake:

  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons plus 1 tablespoon butter for pan
  • 8 eggs
  • 2 cups plus 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

You need: Cold marble on which to pour hot candy

1 stick of butter

Green or red food coloring if desired

In a bowl stir to dissolve: 2 generous cups of sugar

¾ cup of tap water
