Another Visit With Ukulele Sensation Jake Shimabukuro

Jake Shimabukuro became a YouTube sensation in 2006 when his ukulele version of George Harrison’s “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” went viral — it’s received over 13 million hits.

He’s since made several albums, been the focus of the PBS documentary “Jake Shimabukuro: Life on Four Strings” and is currently on tour. This month he’ll be in Japan, and next month he returns to the United States.

Last spring, Shimabukuro visited our studios with two different ukuleles and shared his joy in playing the instrument. As he told Here & Now’s Jeremy Hobson, “there’s something really magical about the ukulele… it feels so good, it makes you smile, and it just makes everything okay.”
