Ed Sheeran Hearts NPR

British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran's chart-topping hit "The A Team" has earned him international attention and a Grammy nomination for song of the year. The 21-year-old tells NPR Morning Edition host David Greene that his journey to stardom wasn't an easy one however, and it included many nights sleeping on sofas.

Now that he's found success by releasing and promoting his own music, Sheeran is trading sofas for tour buses. He talks to Greene about opening for Taylor Swift on her 2013 U.S. tour, the deeper message behind the lyrics of his most popular song, and his often buzzed-about tattoos.

Before leaving NPR headquarters, Sheeran showed that he's keen on singing our tune, with some NPR love.
