Residents in Carteret and Jones Counties may notice an increase in military training activity later this month.

A ground training operation at Marine Corps Auxiliary Landing Field Bogue will take place during daylight hours from April 23rd thru the 30th.  Residents may notice an increase in military and civilian traffic during this period.   Another ground training exercise in Jones County will take place from April 23 to the 27 as late as midnight each night at Marine Corps Outlying Landing Field Oak Grove.

An Army helicopter unit has canceled their training at Outlying Landing Field Atlantic, according to Communications Strategy and Operations Officer at MCAS Cherry Point Mike Barton.  The unit was scheduled to conduct live fire training at bombing ranges in the Pamlico Sound from April 16 through the 27th.
