New app available for emergency preparedness

Jan 20, 2014

INTRO – The Governor’s Office has announced the launch of a new app to help families prepare for emergencies. George Olsen has more.

The ReadyNC app works on iPhones and Android devices. Gov. Pat McCrory is quoted referring to the app as an “all-in-one tool that both residents and visitors can use to get the latest weather, traffic and hazard information.”  The app features real-time information on traffic and weather, flood levels of nearby creeks and rivers, open shelters and county evacuation orders.  It also provides information to report power outages. It does not replace calling 9-1-1. The app is free and available at the Apple AppStore and at Google Play. I’m George Olsen.
